About Me
Hey there, thanks for visiting and being interested the work I do and what I can offer you.
I’m Rach, a newly qualified Triple Vagal Method (TVM) Practitioner. You can read more about my story over on the Steady Rambles page.
I stumbled across TVM as part of my own healing journey. Like many, I experienced significant bullying in school, had some significant early traumas and didn’t receive appropriate care or access services at the time.
I didn’t feel like I was worth it.
My own mental health has meant accessing counselling, EMDR, CBT, play therapy, seasonal adjustments and long term anti-depressant medication over the years. I never wanted medicating, but I wouldn’t be here without meds. Or therapy.
I should probably to give thanks to my current dog Ted at this point. I never planned on loving him. He never planned on being a model for this website. He needed a guardian and companion who understood trauma. Six years of hard work and exposure therapy have turned him into a different dog. He is able to tap into courage and choose joy.
I understand the stigma around poor mental health. I lived it on my own for a while. I know how hard it is talking about it. That is one of the things I love so much about TVM. You don’t have to talk about your trauma for TVM to be effective.
Open water swimming, long distance triathlon, alongside various talking therapies and a fabulous tribe I met along the way, meant I was able to achieve many, quite frankly, ridiculous goals. I was also able to qualify as an ASA level 2 Swimming Coach and take this joy to others.
During this time, I was working with children who were cared for by the local authority. I spent 20 years caring for and about children and young people who had experience significant loss and childhood trauma, culminating in becoming Registered Manager. I have always been passionate about helping others to be the best version of themselves - whether this has been supporting teenagers grow into happy, healthy adults or helping individuals overcome their fear of water and learn to swim.
My motivation has been improved mental health, overall wellness and transferable skills for life. It made sense to retrain as Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner when it was time for me to leave front-line social care. Working for the NHS, I completed my Post Graduate Certificate in Low Intensity Common Mental Health Conditions. As soon as was practicable, I added somatic healing and trauma transformation to my list of passions.
And now, I want to bring my experiences to your healing journey.
